The movie is based on the character of Uncle Drew, a basketball player portrayed by NBA star Kyrie Irving in a series of Pepsi Max commercials. The plot follows Drew and his old basketball squad, now senior citizens, as they compete in a street basketball tournament. The film stars Irving alongside a cast of veteran basketball players, including Reggie Miller, Chris Webber and Shaquille O'Neal.
